Covid past its peak? New cases flat despite increase in testing

In another indication that the Covid-19 pandemic in India may be past its peak, at least for now, fresh cases on Friday did not show a rise as compared with the past two days despite a steep increase in testing. India had recorded 83,596 new cases during the day by late Friday (with Chhattisgarh numbers yet to come), around the same as the numbers reported on the previous two days — 86,825 and 85,821, respectively (including Chhattisgarh), according to data collated from state governments.
