Lost in translation: Why sarkar is taking away Sarkars' lands

The land holdings of some 727 Bengali Hindu refugees in three rehab camps in Raichur district, Karnataka, in 1971 — carrying thesurname ‘Sarkar’ — have been marked government or ‘sarkari’ land, in a bungle over the surname.
