The Congress party has criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his alleged hate speech in Chhattisgarh. The party hopes that the Election Commission will take appropriate action against Sarma for violating the poll code. The Congress has accused Sarma of making communally charged statements and unverified allegations against a Congress leader. The Election Commission has served notice to Sarma and found his speech to be prima facie violative of the Model Code of Conduct. The Congress argues that politicians in constitutional positions should not be allowed to get away with such violations.
