A study by IIT-Delhi warns that climate change will increase the danger of fire in Indian forests. The research shows that forests in Central and South India and the Himalayan region will see significant increases in the Fire Weather Index (FWI). The study highlights the need for regional standards and mitigation strategies due to India's fragmented forests and diverse eco-climates. It notes that humid tropical forests in the Western Ghats and North-East will see lower FWI.
